PRIVACY POLICY

This policy explains which personal data we process when you visit retailpraxis.de, what we use it for and which rights you have. It is a translation. If the two versions differ, the German version applies.

2. In brief

  • This website sets no cookies for advertising or statistics.
  • Visitor statistics come from Ahrefs Web Analytics, without cookies and without recognising visitors.
  • Google Maps and YouTube only load once you allow them with a click.
  • Fonts and icons come from our own server.

3. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany, which runs it on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR). With every request your browser sends technically necessary data, which the server records in log files: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the amount of data transferred, the status code, the page visited before, and browser and operating system. We need this data to deliver the website, to keep it secure and to find errors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in doing so (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log data is deleted after a short time unless a security incident has to be investigated. The connection to the website is encrypted (https).

4. Contact form and email

When you write to us using the contact form or by email, we process your name, your email address and your message in order to answer your enquiry. The form sends your details to us by email, they are not stored on the website itself. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry concerns a contract or steps prior to one, otherwise our legitimate interest in answering it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the data once the enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods apply.

5. Cookies

This website only sets cookies it needs to work:

  • pll_language remembers the language you chose (German or English). Lifetime: one year.
  • privacy_embeds remembers which external content (Google Maps, YouTube) you allowed. It is only set when you click to allow it. Lifetime: 30 days.

Storing them on your device is based on Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), the processing on our legitimate interest in a working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time.

6. Visitor statistics with Ahrefs Web Analytics

To see how many people visit this website and which pages they view, we use Ahrefs Web Analytics by Ahrefs Pte. Ltd., 16 Raffles Quay, #33-03 Hong Leong Building, Singapore 048581. When you open a page, your browser loads a script from analytics.ahrefs.com and transmits the address of the page, its title, the referring page, the language setting and the screen size. Ahrefs derives the approximate location from the IP address, at most down to the city. To count unique visitors, Ahrefs creates a hash from the IP address, the browser identifier and a random value that changes every 24 hours. According to Ahrefs, the IP address itself is not stored. No cookies are set, nothing is stored on your device, and visitors are not tracked across days, devices or websites.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring our reach with as little data as possible (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Ahrefs is based in Singapore, so the data may also be processed outside the European Union. You can object to the measurement at any time, for example by blocking scripts from analytics.ahrefs.com in your browser.

7. Google Maps

On the contact page you can display a map from Google Maps, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The map only loads when you click the button in the placeholder. Only then does your browser connect to Google’s servers and transmit, among other things, your IP address and the page you are on. Google may also set cookies. The data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time by deleting the cookie privacy_embeds in your browser. More in Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

8. YouTube

Some project pages embed videos from YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The videos only load if you have allowed YouTube before. Without that, your browser does not connect to YouTube. Once allowed, the information on Google Maps applies accordingly: your IP address and the page you are on are transmitted, among other things, YouTube may set cookies, and the data may go to the USA. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you can withdraw at any time by deleting the cookie privacy_embeds.

9. Links to social networks and other websites

Below articles you will find links for sharing on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Tumblr, Pinterest and VK, and we link to our online shop and to pages of our partners. These are plain links: the provider only receives data once you click a link and open its page. The operators of the linked pages are responsible for them.

10. Fonts and icons

Fonts and icons are delivered by our own server. Opening a page therefore does not connect you to Google or any other provider for them.

11. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). Just write to us at info@retailpraxis.com.

Right to object: where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).

Right to lodge a complaint: you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2-4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.

12. No obligation, no automated decisions

You do not have to provide any data. Without the technical data, however, the website cannot be delivered, and without contact details we cannot answer you. There is no automated decision-making or profiling.
